This 12 part series on 6 VHS tapes is a good overview of the 20th century.  Produced by ABC News and The History Channel, it is a useful addition to any school library.  Teachers will find many powerful segments that will hold students' interest.  The tapes on the 1930s and 1940s (the Great Depression and World War Two) are especially well done.  The later tapes are also good, but like the times themselves, the events can merge into a blur of images.  Preview and select the best segments for classroom use.  $74.95 for the VHS set of 6 tapes.
