The Pictures:
 
1.  The World Trade Center in New York City.  The terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 destroyed the magnificent towers and killed those caught inside as the buildings collapsed.


2.  George W. Bush, president when Middle Eastern terrorists attacked the U.S. on 9-11-01.  His leadership in the days and weeks after the attack helped unify the nation at a time of shock and mourning.


3.  A map showing Afghanistan and the surrounding countries.  Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan.


4.  A tank and crew prepare for action.  Tanks were among the weapons used by both sides in the fight to topple the brutal Taliban government in Afghanistan.
