The Pictures:
 
1.  Ronald Reagan, president during most of the 1980s.  He led the "conservative revolution" in American politics that called for scaling back the role of the federal government in American life and business.


2.  A welder working on a metal product.  The 1980s saw a return to strong economic growth after the stagnation of the 1970s.


3.  A woman working with a desktop personal computer.  The "PC" became an affordable business tool during this decade, and began spreading into homes by the millions as the 1980s ended.


4.  George H.W. Bush, elected president in 1988.  He is the father of President George W. Bush, elected in 2000.
