Tips
for completing the map:
Students should work from the finished map shown on the Internet support site or from our overhead transparency map collection. Emphasize neatness from the beginning! It's a good idea to have students show the Western Front first, using a red color pencil. A dotted line in France shows the location. Also point out the Suez Canal. Students should show it with a blue pencil. A dotted line in Egypt shows the location. Remind students to shade the land areas very lightly, so the labels and borders will not be obscured. Note that the map does not show the areas conquered, but only who was on which side. The Atlantic Ocean and the seas can be done last in light
blue. Use a # 2 pencil for labeling them, since color pencils don't
do lettering very well. A blue ball-point pen can be used, but of
course a mistake in ink cannot be erased.

| Reminder: Students and teachers can also view the map shown below in the Maps section of the Internet support site. A set of overhead transparencies of the completed maps is available at a modest price. |
