Tips for completing the map:

Students should work from the finished map shown on the Internet support site or from our overhead transparency map collection.  Emphasize neatness from the beginning!

Students should use a red color pencil for the highlight circles.  It will need to be sharp to do the labels, or use a red ink pen - carefully!  Remind students to color the key.

A blue pencil is needed to mark the line of the Panama Canal Zone, and can be used to label the oceans.  Use light blue to color the water in the inset map.

The Panama Canal Zone was returned to the Panamanian government through a treaty initiated by President Jimmy Carter.

Reminder:  Students and teachers can also view the map shown below in the Maps section of the Internet support site.  A set of overhead transparencies of the completed maps is available at a modest price.
