The Pictures:
 
1.  A printing press of the sort used in the Revolutionary era.  The printer selected and placed metal pieces of type in the tray, rolled them with ink, and placed a sheet of paper on top.  Pulling the lever pressed a flat plate down, squeezing the paper against the inked letters.

2.  A lawyer preparing for a case.  The Bill of Rights guarantees that those accused of a crime can have the assistance of a lawyer.

3.  A man in court on the witness stand.  Witnesses must give their testimony in open court. 

4.  An early patriotic symbol.  The eagle represents the United States.
